Here at Designer Metal we produce all our own scrolls by hand, first 2 photos. We can produce about 150 per day and they are so much nicer than the machine turned ones, used by most people these days, and really finish our gates off nicely. The next three photos show our metal field gates being made in our 2 dedicated gate bays of the workshop. We produce 4 standard sizes. These are all made on permanent metal sheet jigs that we place on metal trestles with our forklift. Guys simply have to cut components from a standard cutting list, drop into the jigs and weld them up. It’s a really efficient process that allows us to produce some really nice field gates at an affordable price and we send these out all over the country every week. The next photo show tree guards and quadrants hanging to dry after being spray painted. Final photo shows 650 fence post ready for our Estate Fencing installation at Heveningham Hall in May.

200 m of our Style 2 metal Estate Fencing installed this week in Suffolk. Unfortunately we did nt have the light for the photos but the fencing looked great lining the new driveway to this amazing house. Second visit here for us. We originally installed 550 m in 2013.

Final piece to our production puzzle completed today. Overhead track system for our spray booth replacing our old spray racks. Quicker spraying and a much more efficient use of space. Metal ½ and 3/4 tree guards being the first things to go through it.

11 February 2019

We have spent most of January solving our space issues by adding approx 2000square ft of mezzanine floor. Its been great fun to build ,and with the new equipment and layout below ,will give us a workshop where we could comfortably employ 10-15 people. we finally have had our new power supply switched on this weekend so we are good to go. We have work piled up in front of us and looking forward to a great 2019. Hopefully by the end of this month we will have planning permission granted for a 2 story office pod on the front of the building which we hope to have built by the summer. This whole project will have taken about a year from start to finish but will give us a facility that should allow us to expand greatly.
thanks to all involved

4 January 2019

In recent years we have been on the limit our power supply here at Manor Farm This has been increasingly problematic as office lights dim and we lose power in certain areas when work shop compressors and welders fire up. With the business expanding, we have doubled our welding bays and have added almost a dozen new presses, ring roles, saws and other pieces of workshop equipment as well as fume extraction in all areas and new lighting to come.
In the middle of last year we commissioned UK Power networks to upgrade our power supply which will be tripled going from 60 amps to 200 amps. We will be up and running with this from the end of January. We undertook all the ground works ourselves installing a GRPO cabinet, digging trenches by hand and laying a 100m of cable as thick as your arm. In addition to these works we are currently installing a 200m2 mezzanine floor in the workshop and look to start work in early March on a 2 storey office pod on the front of the building. It’s been a long journey but by the middle of 2019 we will have a facility here that will really allow us to fulfil our potential as the main British Manufacturer of Estate Fencing, Metal Tree Guards and all country iron work so hold tight and keep buying British.
