Metal Tree Guard FAQ

Designer Metal guards will last a lifetime. Consequently, even if you leave them unpainted, you will experience no problems with structural rigidity over time. In fact, your trees will outgrow the guards before the metal rusts away.

We only offer the sizes and designs shown on the Tree Guards page of the website.

To install them, you will need a large hammer and a pair of 17mm spanners. However, we supply the nuts, bolts, and ground stakes with the guards.

Yes. Because we design our guards to bolt together, you can easily remove them and use them again.

We recommend Designer Metal Half Guards for sheep and smaller stock animals. Alternatively, you can also use our Full Guards.

We suggest the Half Guard for smaller deer or muntjac. Meanwhile, we recommend the Full or Classic XL guards for fallow, sika, or red deer.

The Park and Estate Guards are the belt and braces guards for cattle; however, Designer Metal have sold thousands of Full Guards over the years into heavy stock environments. Therefore, please call us if you wish to discuss your options in more detail.
 
Note: We design the smaller-diameter Three-Quarter Guards mainly for utilitarian use. Conversely, Full Guards offer better protection from animals and livestock. Furthermore, the wider base of the Full Guard ensures a better footing and provides more resistance to pushing. However, depending on the size of the root ball, you may find it more difficult to anchor the stakes well.

Our guards are mainly sent through the pallet network, so we would only deliver large single or multiple small guards.
