estate fencing

Designer Metal specializes in the fabrication and installation of traditional estate fencing. Also referred to as park fencing or parkland fencing, it is a modern reproduction of the traditional iron fencing of old, used on estates and parkland for retaining stock and decoration. We have installed many miles of fencing in a wide variety of soil types. The use of generous steel sections and our method of installations, gives our product great rigidity and strength. You are truly investing in a last-a-lifetime fence that will be enjoyed by generations to come.

As standard we produce two types of estate fencing. Both stand 1.15m tall approx (variations on request). The posts are spaced at 1 metre apart and both have 5 traditionally spaced rails (small gap nearer the ground with each spacing becoming greater as they rise up the fence) and can be finished in a colour of your choice or left to self colour.

50 x 12mm posts and 5 20mm solid round rails standing 1.15m tall more than capable of retaining heavy stock...

Or (40 x 12 mm posts with a solid 20mm round top rail and 4 25 x 8 mm flat rails below standing 1.15 m tall).

We also offer both the above styles in a 4 rail system standing 95 cms tall. Perfect for gardens.

We publish our spec and section sizes because we are proud to produce a product that is built to last. As far as we are aware, we are the only company who install estate/park fencing in the way we do.

The advantages of our method are clearly demonstrated in the photos above. It allows us to follow contours and curves in a way that is just not possible with pre-fabricated panels.

Designer Metal Estate Fencing, with Estate Tree Guards in the background, in the January snow 2010. This fence was installed in meadows across the road from our work shop in 1992 and is still as straight and as upright as the day we put it in. The fence was never painted and despite being almost 20 years old shows no sign of structural corrosion, other than surface rust, even at ground level. The use of generous steel section and the quality of  the installation will ensure that this fence will still be standing at the end of this century. The Estate Guards were installed in 2002 and have withstood the rubbing of heavy stock for 8 years without moving. For a land owner or estate manager both items are a once in a lifetime, maintenance free purchase.

Tree protection and a terrific feature in this meadow.

First we drive each post deep in to the ground. Then all the rails are run through and trimmed to length.

Then everything is welded up on-site. Should a finish be required, a high zinc based primer top coat is applied in a colour of your choice.

The end result is a seamless fence, with no visible joins or bolts , that is incredibly strong and will hold its line and stay upright for decades.

Metal fencing, perfect for any property or parkland.
